After England’s 4-1 loss against India, Brendon McCullum is certain that his team will make “some adjustments.”

After being “exposed” in the last four games in India, England’s head coach, Brendon McCullum, said that his team would need to consider their strategy carefully, but he is certain that their first series loss under his direction will improve them as a team.

Built on an aggressive, reckless form of batting, England’s swashbuckling approach to test cricket was expected to be put to the test in its largest ever five-test series.

Their attempt to deny Rohit Sharma’s team a test series loss at home since 2012 got off to an exciting start in Hyderabad, when Ollie Pope produced what was maybe the finest innings by a visiting batsman in India.

However, the visitors’ luck would run out as India won the following four games to win 4-1 and dash the hopes of the “Bazball” craze.

“Sometimes you can get away with things, but it does require some pretty deep thinking and some adjustment to make sure we’re staying true to what we believe in,” McCullum said to BBC Sport. “That’s especially true when you’re exposed in the way we have been towards the end of this series.”

“We became more cautious as the series progressed, and that was due to the pressure the Indian lineup put on us.”

England’s batting was a huge letdown, and they missed Harry Brook terribly when he pulled out of the series for personal reasons.

When England hosts the West Indies for a three-test series in July and then hosts Sri Lanka for another home series, McCullum claimed that they would be a stronger team.

“This trip will provide a lot of positive outcomes. I’m very certain of that,” he said.

Even if it hurts a lot right now, we will be a stronger cricket team as a result of the experience.

As the team’s main spinner, Jack Leach may face pressure from Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir, who both had strong first series performances.

Regarding the left-arm spinner, who has missed the previous four tests against India due to a knee injury, McCullum said, “Jack will understand that himself.”

It’s a nice location to be when you have a variety of alternatives and depth. We must accept it, and throughout the summer, there will be some difficult decisions to make.
