Who Will Replace MS Dhoni as Captain of CSK? Big Update from CEO Kasi Viswanathan Before IPL 2024

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is quickly approaching, and while fans and analysts continue to debate MS Dhoni’s future, a lot of attention will be on him. People would be interested to see whether he intends to resign at the conclusion of the season, as he will be back with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The team will also need to be ready for life after Dhoni, and it seems that “internal talks” have already started on that front.

Big Update from CEO Kasi Viswanathan Before IPL 2024 6″>

The team has been searching for Dhoni’s replacement for a while; in 2022, they even gave Ravindra Jadeja a tryout. But before the team was eliminated from the competition that season, the renowned wicketkeeper-batter took back the captaincy when the all-around player failed to live up to the hype.

Last year, Dhoni guided CSK to a record-tying fifth championship victory, guaranteeing his comeback the following year. CEO Kasi Viswanathan disclosed the conversation he had on the issue with the team owner and former BCCI chairman N Srinivasan prior to the excitement around his potential IPL career taking center stage.

“You see, there have been discussions inside. However, Mr. Srinivasan has clarified everything. We won’t discuss the selection of the captain and vice captain. Let the captain and the coach make that decision. After they make a decision and provide me the information, I will give it to you all. “The coach and the captain will decide and give us a directive; till then, let’s all keep quiet,” Viswanathan informed S. Badrinath, a former cricket player for CSK, on the latter’s YouTube channel.

The CEO of CSK acknowledged that the team is under pressure to find Dhoni’s replacement but that their first priority should be to make it to the knockout stages.

“We’ve always prioritized getting into the knockout stages. That is our primary goal. After that, it will depend on how well they do that day. Even today, we are still doing it. Every season, MS Dhoni advises us to “first focus on league games.” Our goal is to get into the knockout stages. It’s true that there is pressure. But due to our consistency throughout the years, the majority of the players have become used to this pressure,” he said.
