Agnikul Cosmos Private Limited’s Agnibaan was scheduled to launch on Friday from the launchpad operated by the business at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), which is housed within the Sriharikota facility of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Agnikul released a statement saying, “Agnikul is holding the launch out of an abundance of caution based on certain minor observations from the full countdown rehearsals last night.” A revised launch date and time will be announced by the firm. The IIT-Madras-backed startup is printing their spacecraft, Agnibaan, in three dimensions, including the engine, which is printed in one piece.

Sub Orbital Technology Demonstrator (SOrTeD) was launched with the purpose of evaluating technological capabilities. Agnibaan is a unique launch vehicle that it is creating to carry tiny and nano satellites into low-Earth orbit (LEO). This was supposed to be the spaceport’s maiden launch, and the company’s first commercial launch after that.

This would have been a noteworthy accomplishment for India’s commercial space industry after the sector’s liberalization and opening up, which had previously only allowed the country’s top space research organization, ISRO, to operate in it. According to the business, in addition to becoming the first private launchpad, it would have been the first single-piece 3D printed engine in the world and the first rocket launch powered by a semi-cryogenic engine in India.

In four rounds, the startup has received $41 million thus far. Agnikul concentrates on tiny satellite on-demand launches as the need for these launches grows. According to many market research assessments, the market for smaller SATs is expected to reach $9 billion by 2030, increasing at a 17.3% CAGR.

Many firms have launched their eyes for direct communications, such as satellite phones, internet of things (IoT) apps, and images. The main uses for these are in communication and earth observation.
